Anderson Silva is regarded by many as the #1 pound for pound fighter in the world, including the UFC. He is a flagship for the promotion and for his home country of Brazil. “The Spider” boasts a record of 22-4 and has not lost since arriving in the UFC.
The unquestioned king of the cage has recently announced his retirement from the sport, stating he will retire by the time he turns 35. Silva says he is committed to fulfilling his UFC contract and will compete in the remaining six bouts. This is good news and bad news. The good news is Silva stated he wants to retire some time in 2009.
He also stated he will finish his remaining six fights on his contract, which means if the champ stays true to his word, we get SIX Anderson Silva fights in a little over a year! The bad news is once he’s done, he’s done.
